About UsStop Piracy Now, Inc. ("Stop Piracy Now" or "SPN"), incorporated in 2002, was formed when it became clear that brazen acts of Internet piracy were growing at a rate and taking forms that could compromise the integrity of the Internet. While debate began to materialize in the areas of peer-to-peer technologies and the entertainment industries, less attention has been paid to other areas such as publication of original content (that need not always serve commercial purposes) and to the on-line travel industry. Stop Piracy Now received its initial funding from MetroGuide.com, Inc. ("MetroGuide"), a sister company. As more fully set forth in the History section of this site, MetroGuide has been required to bring numerous lawsuits against persons and entites that had engaged in unbelievable acts constituting copyright and trademark infringment. As a matter of both principle, law and equity, MetroGuide maintains a policy that it will pursue domain disgorgement in every lawsuit it brings. To date, MetroGuide has acquired in excess of fifty domain names from persons who had used such domains to host webpages that infringed MetroGuide's intellectual property. These websites have been converted from bad to good as they publish content of interest to the Internet public, primarily in the on-line travel arena. A portion of all profits generated from these websites is donated toward the battle against Internet piracy.
