Parasiteware
A particularly insidious form of spyware that steals earned commissions from affiliate programs. Affiliate programs generally work by passing an accounting code of some sort from the referring site. Parasiteware scans for commissionable transactions and then substitutes the thief's accounting code for the legitimate site's accounting code, thus giving the credit for the sale to the parasite instead of the rightful owner. Site operators have been known to report stupendous losses of up to 60% in sales from parasitic activities.
